Filename : Saving Private Carmack
Author : john Harvey (aka Sniv)
Email : harveyj@btinternet.com
Credits : Id software,
Robert Duffy for Qeradiant (The best!)
Friends and famil for ideas, especially Billboy
Play Info: Single player : yes
Co-op : no
Deathmatch : no
Difficulty Settings : Yup, easy medium and hard. All your favourite flavours...
Construction : From scratch, a brand new level.
Build Time : Approx. 1 month
Editor : Qeradiant by Robert Duffy
Known Bugs : If Carmack is hit he may just walk around aimlessly in circles
In the first section a monster may get caught on a door.
The Story : Listen up, soldier, this is important. Private John Carmack
by the Strogg bastards. What's the fuss? Carmack is the first
of our supersoldiers. In his brain are numerous technologically
enabled enhancements, that the strogg would just love to get their
greasy hands on. You've been beamed to the surface. Bust through,
we'll give you recon as we get it.
By the way, soldier, if Carmack dies, you do. He's been
programmed to walk out. Follow and protect!
Authors Note : This is my second level, and a huge improvement on my first. As far
as I know, this is the first of it's kind, where the survival of an
insane will affect the outcome of the level. I may release a new version
in the future. Also, the Quake 2 engine is not dead, just deserted by
those who kept it alive and inventing for a year and a bit.
Half-Life is fantastic, but the editor is cumbersome and the community
so full of newbies that there have only been 3 levels of note so far.
Stay with the Q2 engine, it's still the most versatile.
Loading : Unzip the bsp. files into your c:/quake2/baseq2/maps folder, start Q2
pull down the console (~) and type "map saving".
Legal Stuff : If anyone puts this on a CD without my written conscent then I WILL sue. Any
kids out there that wanna dissect this can, but only for personal use.
This level is Copyright John Harvey on April 9th 1999. So there.
